The world of manga is always expanding with new series starting and old ones ending. It can be difficult to find a good series to invest your time in, especially if you’re not up-to-date on the latest and greatest. Here is a list of some of the best completed manga series from start to finish, so you can jump right in without having to worry about cliffhangers!
This list excludes many of the most popular manga series to date, such as Attack on Titan, Fullmetal Alchemist, Death Note, Haikyuu, and others, in order for you to discover new series to read!
Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku
- Hell’s Paradise is an action-adventure manga that follows Gabimaru the Hollow, one of Iwagakure’s most ruthless ninja assassins.
- He was apprehended during a mission and sentenced to death. Gabimaru’s body appeared to be immortal because no punishment could kill him.
- Gabimaru believes that the love he has for his wife is what keeps him alive; Yamada Asaemon Sagiri, the executioner, believes otherwise.
Fire Punch
Fire Punch is a completed manga that includes elements of action, science fiction, and drama – with a disclaimer given due to its mature themes such as cannibalism, physical abuse, suicide, and explicit violence.
The manga, by the same person behind Chainsaw Man, follows the siblings Agni and Luna in a frozen and barren world where cannibalism is practiced.
In Agni and Luna’s village, one of the chosen few with special abilities known as blessings appear. These chosen individuals are then tasked with the job of finding food and resources for the village – but quickly learn that there’s more to this world than meets the eye.
Emma
Emma is a historical and romantic manga set in Victorian London. The story follows the relationship of Emma, a beautiful and hardworking young maid, and William Jones, the son of a wealthy merchant.
Because of their social standings, William’s family is strongly opposed to their relationship. This is further complicated by the fact that William is soon to be married to Eleanor, the daughter of a Viscount.
Angel Densetsu
Angel Densetsu is one of my personal favorites. It is an action-comedy manga that has also been animated. The protagonist of the manga, Seiichirou Kitano, has the face of a devil but the heart of an angel. Seiichirou is frequently assumed to be a delinquent and heroin addict due to his frightening appearance; however, he rose through the ranks of the thugs at school and gained friends who expected him to act in accordance with his appearance.
Jormungand
Jormungand is an action and seinen manga that follows the story of Koko Hekmatyar and her crew of former soldiers as they sell firearms and weapons through an international shipping corporation and an illegal smuggling operation known as HCLI.
The manga is full of guns, mercenaries, the military, and violence. In the spring of 2012, the completed manga was adapted into an anime.
Helck
Helck is an action and fantasy manga that follows the human hero Helck as he battles to become the next Demon King.
In a world where the demon king has been defeated by a lone hero, creatures and people of all races gather for the world’s most important tournament. Red Vamirio, one of the Four Heavenly Kings, oversees the tournament as Helck emerges victorious.
However, Red Vamirio appears to have some reservations about Helck’s true intentions. After all, Helck carries the title of Demon King on his shoulders. Helck must now prove that he is worthy of the title and prove that his intentions are pure – will he be able to do it?
